Celebrating Our Team : The Magic Behind Transforming Venues for Christmas

Not many brands have survived the tumultuous changes of 150 years. Those fortunate to have stood the test of time have an amazing and dedicated army of staff throughout generations that have ensured it survives and thrives. From our founders' Susan Moyses and Edwin Stevens in the Victorian era (1876), to a renaissance in the digital age, a huge credit to the teams of florists that continue to make it happen! 

From the flower-twirling benches of our online gift-making team, to office support, events, contracts, drivers - not forgetting our shop, or school teams - we are lucky to have so many creative florists passionate about working with flowers! We wanted to celebrate our amazing contract team, led by the incomparable Larissa Petean. They dazzle us weekly with amazing displays throughout London, but we would like a special shout-out for transforming our favourite landmark locations for the festive season.

It proved impossible to gather the troops in their entirety but we managed to entice a few of the team for cocktails at Nobu Hotel.

Decorating the home for Christmas is a time-honoured and much loved tradition in households around the world. This is often completed with a mince pie or two, a glass of something bubbly, enlisting the enthusiastic help of all the family. Designing for a grand hotel, contemporary spaces or restaurant is no less a loved tradition for florists, although the love part is debatable when it's a 3am start! 

Decorating on a larger scale brings more challenges, particularly if the trees are in excess of 17ft, and the bauble placing across the installations is in the hundreds of thousands. Add in the complexity of each venue, requiring the same installation date, sourcing all elements, the bespoke manufacturing (we could not have done this without Magma Manufacturing) and the need for most of it to be done at night - and you have a spread sheet or three containing complex mathematical calculations of florists, baubles, trees, wreaths, lights, cherry picker trucks, energy drinks, festive treats, and the best part of two weeks stuck up a ladder. Florists are the unsung heroes that make it all possible. They work tirelessly to add sparkle to any space, creating a magical, inviting atmosphere for us all to enjoy.
