Our Belgravia in Bloom Displays 2023
22nd May 2023
It’s that time of year again for an explosion of floral creativity as the highly anticipated 2023 Chelsea and Belgravia in Bloom festivals are upon us. This annual extravaganza takes place from 22nd - 27th May, coinciding with horticulture's flagship exhibition - RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
These unique, free outdoor events see local shops, restaurants, and businesses participate in a friendly competition to create inventive, blockbuster floral installations. Each year, the theme is carefully chosen to inspire participants and unleash their creativity. It’s all lights, camera, action for Chelsea as this year’s theme is, "Flowers on Film," which promises to showcase innovative designs embracing iconic moments from the big screen. While over in Belgravia the theme ‘Into the Wild’ will see florists pay tribute to all that is spectacular about the natural world.
Moyses Stevens has a long and illustrious history of transforming the streets of Chelsea and Belgravia into a display of floral artistry and this year is no different. Our formidable Events team have been working on a whole host of ambitious designs - with the planning stages beginning back in the winter months of 2023. Although preparation has been ongoing, the actual installation can only really begin a few days before the event, so it’s been ALL hands on deck.
We’re thrilled to debut a snapshot of the designs - starting with the imaginative creations sprawling over the streets of Belgravia. Lets deep dive into the first installation - an underwater landscape in Newsom's Yard with two seahorses central to the scene. A seabed of dried varieties from statice to pampas grass made up a coral reef whilst textural flower seed heads such as nigella and poppies made up the seahorse structures - all in tones of hot pink and turquoise blue.
Meanwhile over on Elizabeth Street two of Mother Nature’s gentle giants resided amongst a lush botanical meadow of red-hot pokers, ferns and of course bamboo. Our panda pair sat amongst the verdant display, delighting onlookers in the process.
The third design continued the animal magic theme with a Hawaiian shirt clad giraffe and monkey heading on a Belgravia bound road-trip. Immersed in a jungle of giant monstera leaves, and bromeliad plants the playful scene encapsulates both the imaginative talent of the florists and the joy the alfresco show brings to London’s great outdoors. Alongside our floral superstars, the clever team at Magna Manufacturing were responsible for crafting the brilliant Jeep structure.
Whether you're a floral enthusiast, design lover, or simply looking for a dose of beauty, Chelsea and Belgravia in Bloom is a must-see (not forgetting completely free) event. The stunning displays, the creative energy, and the sense of community make it a truly magical experience.
